CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

CC, Kiel, Ben, Adam, Aiden, Joseph, Wes, and Liffey told the rest of the team what they’d discovered during their visits. The sheer volume of women that this man had taken advantage of was astounding.

“Where is he now?” asked CC.

“He was supposed to report for work at the university in Boise a week ago but never showed up. We think he’s on the run,” said Pigsty.

“Damn,” muttered CC. “We need to find this guy.”

“I might be able to help,” said Miguel, stepping into the room. “I realize that you young men don’t need an old man to guide you, but in this, perhaps I can give some insight.”

“Miguel, you’re always welcome to join us in these team meetings. You know that,” said Cam.

“Thank you, Cameron. You know, I remember the day you were born. In fact, I remember the day all of you were born,” he smiled a nostalgic smile.

“Did you have information for us?” asked Eric, grinning at the older man.

“Oh, yes. Antonio DeSilva.”

“What the fuck, Miguel? When did you start hanging out with the biggest mob boss in the world?” asked Luke.

“Antonio isn’t so bad,” he said, shrugging his shoulders. They all raised their eyebrows, staring at the man. “Listen, Antonio and I have known one another for many years. I don’t condone the way he does business, but he doesn’t want to kill me for getting out of the business and supporting all of you. We just sort of agree to ignore one another. Unless… unless we need something.”

“Miguel, is there a point to all of this?” asked Frank.

“You always were an impatient young man,” he smiled. “Antonio’s wife died about twelve years ago. They had two grown daughters who are married with children of their own now. However, he remarried about four years ago to a woman half his age. Not unusual, but the problem was he was unable to get her pregnant, so they sought help.

“IVF failed four times. It was brutal on her body. So, they opted for trying to find a surrogate. They selected a sperm donor, and her eggs were used. They were assured that the surrogate was an ideal candidate.”

“Oh, fuck me,” muttered CC. “They didn’t know she wasn’t a willing surrogate.”

“Bingo. She believes the baby is hers and disappeared about a month ago. Antonio isn’t angry with the young woman, at least not now that I’ve told him the story. However, he has put a bounty on our dentist’s head.”

“Damn. If he finds him, he’s going to tear him apart,” said Kiel.

“We have to find that young woman and let her know what’s going on. She thinks that the baby is hers,” said CC. “If she starts to freak, she might put that baby up for adoption somewhere else.”

“We have to find, Sizemore,” said Cam. “Ace…”

“We’re working on it,” he said, waving at the other man.

“You have no idea what I was going to say,” frowned Cam.

“I know exactly what you were going to say. Ace? I need for you, Pigsty, Code, and Sly to make this a priority.
